Windows 7 - random BSOD hardware problem? |

random BSOD hardware problem? I have been having random crashes the last few days, been running fine for a few months before though. I haven't installed anything new or added any new hardware. I did open up the computer and make sure all the connections were seated and dusted it out.
I ran the windows memory tester and when I returned it was at the log on screen so I assume it passed. I've also looked through the log checker and it shows a lot of logs, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for though.
I understand the x124 code is related to hardware, do these dumps say anything about what specific hardware is causing the problem?

Nope, nothing at about which hardware.
I'd suggest looking at this topic to see what you can do: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...-what-try.html | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built (x64), Lenovo x61s Tablet, Samsung Netbook OS Win7 x64 + x86 CPU Intel i7 920, other Intel chips, and the Atom in the netbook Motherboard Asus P6T Deluxe Memory 12 gB; 4 gB Lenovo; 1 gB Samsung netbook Graphics Card ATI 4870 Sound Card Yes, I have one of these Monitor(s) Displays 32" Sharp Aquos TV Screen Resolution 800x600 - I have vision issues Keyboard Microsoft Natural Mouse Logitech Trackman PSU 1000 watt (can't recall the brand) Case Antec 300 Cooling Big honking cooler that was rated highly at Toms Hardware Hard Drives 4 - 150 gB Velociraptors in RAID 5

I removed 2 of my sticks of ram from my computer, and it worked for a day without crashing. Then it resumed again today. I'm in the process of checking my sticks 1 by 1 using memcheck+.
I need to buy an adapter to use my integrated video, but if my card survives testing and benchmarking using Video Card Stability Test ( Video Card Stability Test - Stress Testing & Benchmark the speed of your 3D graphics video card) is it safe to assume that isn't the problem?
All my drivers are up to date. I downloaded a new version of my bios but need a win98 or winME boot disk to install it (wtf?). There is a windows bios update tool but it detects my motherboard as a different board than what it is and doesn't download any updates. (its an MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum)
I also recieved a different error on one of my crashes and have included the dump for it.
EDIT: I think it was a driver related problem, I uninstalled my video and sound drivers and then reinstalled from what was on the MSI site, seems to be working

Do you use the Reaper digital audio workstation application?
The motufwa64.sys driver from that application is at fault.
Please uninstall the Reaper application to see if that cures the BSOD's
Also, please update these older drivers: Code: nvsmu.sys Fri Oct 12 19:53:40 2007

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000002, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002aaa7f8, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: fffff880031bc890, Exception Record Address
Arg4: fffff880031bc930, Context Record Address

I don't have reaper, motufwa64.sys is for my firewire audio interface. I thought it might be the problem but it was only on a couple of the times I had crashes. Since I reinstalled the drivers for my motherboard that would probably affect how the firewire ports behave? Haven't crashed again yet. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 CPU AMD Phenom 9500 2.20GHz Motherboard MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum Memory OCZ Blade PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Graphics Card EVGA 9400GT PSU Ultra LSP 550 Pro |

Normally when a crash points at a driver (such as motufwa64.sys) - it's safe to assume that the driver is the problem. This is the case most of the time, but it is possible that other drivers may affect that driver in such a way that it causes the crash.
I'd wait to see if the mobo driver update has cured the issue. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built (x64), Lenovo x61s Tablet, Samsung Netbook OS Win7 x64 + x86 CPU Intel i7 920, other Intel chips, and the Atom in the netbook Motherboard Asus P6T Deluxe Memory 12 gB; 4 gB Lenovo; 1 gB Samsung netbook Graphics Card ATI 4870 Sound Card Yes, I have one of these Monitor(s) Displays 32" Sharp Aquos TV Screen Resolution 800x600 - I have vision issues Keyboard Microsoft Natural Mouse Logitech Trackman PSU 1000 watt (can't recall the brand) Case Antec 300 Cooling Big honking cooler that was rated highly at Toms Hardware Hard Drives 4 - 150 gB Velociraptors in RAID 5

Well it was running fine for a while. I put my other 2 sticks of ram back(the 2 untested ones) and it crashed today. It gave me the 124 error again, I was using the motu interface at the time. Will check to see if they have a new version of their audio drivers, and will see if it crashes again w/o using the motu.
EDIT: Continues to crash even when motu is disconected. 124 errors, and I had 2 where it just died on me.
EDIT2: Crashed again with only 1 stick of ram in that had passed the test. So I think its safe to say its not the ram. Next options I guess would be the video card or network card? I did the stress test mentioned above for the video card, is that sufficient?

See the info in post #2 again - random BSOD hardware problem?
STOP 0x124 is either an incompatibility or a hardware failure.

I've done most of those things except:
#2 - Don't have a fan, but its cold here this time of year and it pc worked fine through the hot summer
#4 - I need a win98 bootdisk to upate my bios, i don't have access to a win 98 or win me computer to make one
#7 - Will try this when I get the oppourtinuty
#9 - I need an adapter for my monitor so I can use the integrated video, I've been able to remove ram, dvd drive, wireless card.
If it was the power supply going bad would I get a blue screen? All thats left for me to check is the power supply, processor, motherboard, and video card(but it did pass a video card stress test, not sure if thats good enough) | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 CPU AMD Phenom 9500 2.20GHz Motherboard MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum Memory OCZ Blade PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Graphics Card EVGA 9400GT PSU Ultra LSP 550 Pro |

EDIT: I think it was a driver related problem, I uninstalled my video and sound drivers and then reinstalled from what was on the MSI site, seems to be working
this crash ws probably caused by Motufwa64.sys. part of your usb audio drvier.
I would update this plus all the others listed bolow. Code: secdrv.SYS fffff880`06b8c000 fffff880`06b97000 0x0000b000 0x4508052e 9/13/2006 8:18:38 AM
