Hi and welcome]

If you are having true BSOD's you can follow these http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...d-problem.html instructions to find and upload

If not true BSOD it still will be listed in event viewer (type eventvwr in search). you will need to look for errors (they have red in left column) in windows log>application tab. They will contaiin app hang, app crash, etc. when you find them use the snipping tool (type snipping in search) to make a screen shot and upload it to us using the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip) to attach.

USUALLY THESE HAVE AN EVENT ID 1000 SOURCE 100 AND ARE CAUSED BY dep

Let us know

I did use event viewer and that's where I got the posted error. I had turned off DEP for explorer.exe days ago and still the event happens. There is no BSOD just a notice that explorer has stopped working and then it refreshes. This seems random.

You wouldn't happen to be running FireFox 3.5+ ?

I think I have it sorted finally. I used shellexview to disable NVIDIA.CPL from my context menu. Yes, I use FF 3.5.6 and have read the posts regarding this issue. I made Opera my default browser but switched back to FF after using the shellexview method. Let's hope it holds. So far so good.

Nice thread Atza. Thank you for the link. I used solution #3 just as an addon for my fix.

Windows 7 - Vista

My money would be on NIS 2010 as the culprit. Any Internet Security app with a 3rd party firewall will interefere with system services in Windows 7 & Vista. Windows Explorer & Internet Explorer (or default browser) most times with ntdll.dll will be involved. It is an APPHANG followed by an APPCRASH after 30000ms. Then possibly a BSOD.

- never-ending spinning blue circle
- "..Not Responding.." top-right of the screen
