Have you tried running the Startup Repair found on the repair/installation disc? It may need at least 3 runs before it works.

i dont have that. i downloaded windows 7 ultimate burnt it on a disc and installed it when it first came out and i just got this problem this week

Go ahead and boot from the disc you created. If for whatever reason that is not an option, read this tutorial in creating a System Repair Disc. Please do read through the link I sent you in my last post, though.

okay when i run the system repair disc it does the same thing as when i hit "start repair (recommended)" blank black screen.
