Windows 7 can not Boot; Not even after repair install Hi, I am extremely incompetent and something happened and my bootloader got messed up, or I think Only my bootloader got messed up...
Now whenever I turned on my laptop, I get a black a black screen with a blinking text cursor on the top left corner, right after the BIOS is loaded. Nothing happens after that, even when I waited around 15 minutes, just to see if it's slow. I tried using windows 7 installation disk and it's repair install function. I also tried bootrec /fixmbr, /fixboot, /rebuildbcd, bootsect /nt60 .... etc through command prompt. Doesn't fix anything. What can possibly be wrong? What else could I try?
By the way, my system triple boots Windows Vista, 7, Ubuntu(through Wubi). Now all I care about is booting into windows 7. I have nothing important on the other 2. I am pretty sure my data is safe, as I can actually browse them through that "load driver" option in windows' installation disk. If there is nothing that can be done and my bootloader is completely messed up, is there anyway to copy my files elsewhere without booting into windows?
Thanks in advance.

Hi gihhit, from the sounds of it thats going to be a clean install job.... as far as copying files, if you have the Ubuntu Live CD that should let you get in for long enough to back them up | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz Motherboard Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz Memory 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Realtek Monitor(s) Displays Acer Al1980, Screen Resolution 1360*768 Keyboard Alba USB Mouse IT Works Wireless USB PSU 750W Novatech Case Novatech ATX Case Cooling Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Hard Drives 500GB SATA WBC

Have you tried booting into SAFE Mode? If so does it work? If it works see if you can then boot up w/o loading drivers then reboot only allowing certain drivers this way you should be able to see what is preventing you from booting normally. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DELL XPS Studio 435T OS Vista 64 Ultimate, Windows 7 64 Ultimate, Ubuntu 9.10 CPU i7 975 3.3 GHz Extreme (Factory OC'd to 3.6 GHz) Motherboard DELL provided Memory 18 Gb Tri-Channel 1066 Graphics Card ATI 5970 2048 Mb Sound Card X-Fi Extreme Gamer Monitor(s) Displays Vizio 37" HD-TV Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Performance K350 Wireless Mouse Logitech Performance MX Wireless PSU DELL Provided 475 watts Case DELL Cooling 3 fans Hard Drives 1.5 Tb HDD

Thanks in advance. If you made a system repair disk then boot from it and use it.

That would indicate bios can't find anything bootable.
Any error message when you run automatic startup repair from the DVD?
Which I assume is what you meant by this Quote: I tried using windows 7 installation disk and it's repair install function | My System Specs | | OS Vista x64 / 7 X64 CPU E8400 Motherboard ASRock 1333 GLAN R2.0 Memory 2x1 gb 800mhz Graphics Card 9500gt 1gb Case Coolermaster Cooling Winpower 500w Hard Drives Maxtor 160gb-2mb cache |

Thanks for everyone's replies. I think I have tried everything that is suggested here. (Other than the safe mode, because I can't get into it). So I followed severedsolo's advice and used Ubuntu live cd to back up my files and did a clean reinstall. It was very time consuming to reinstall every program and set everything to what I had previously. But thanks for everyone's suggestions.
Re: SIW2
After the first time, which didn't fix anything, automatic repair said it could find no error. | My System Specs | | Windows 7 can not Boot; Not even after repair install problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:30 AM. | |
