Great sigs!
I have a question for you experts :)
This goes for all of you, but as an example of what I am talking about see PooMan and Dom's sigs
When it comes to making custom shapes for your sigs, how do you go about doing it? I know how to make squares and circles obviously, but the abstract shapes how do you make them? I am pretty good at photoshop, so feel free to use any ps lingo
i dont know how evryvone else is doing them but i usualy use the select tool. you have a picture that youlike and select parts of it until you have a shape that you like.
found this 2 tutorials:
Making Custom Shapes
Using and Creating Custom Shapes -- a Photoshop Tutorial by Janee
example:
i rendered this imagine and then i used the select tool. i know the result isnt any good.
hope it helps.
Hiya pal
I don't actually use PS to design, I only use PS for some of the fancy effects, shading and brushes etc.
I predominately use CorelDraw & CorelPhotoPaint. I prefer working with vectors and then converting some of the line work to bitmap as I go.
You tend to have a lot more control and precision when manipulating the lines in CorelDraw but then again that's what CorelDraw was designed for.
Don't get me wrong I still use PS but since Corel X5 I don't need to use PS 1/2 as much as I used to. :)
Here's an example of how I manipulated some of the shapes in a tutorial I made for Arc to show him how I did LordBob's signature ... enjoy and give us a shout if you need any help
This was done in Corel X3 but X5 is pretty much the same ... best viewed full screen 480p
Definitely different than I'm used too lol
I will give it another shot tomorrow, cya everyone!
Hi Kirsch,
I would be more than happy to help. Instead of using the shape tool, I used the different type of selection tools, like rectangle marquee/elliptical marquee or any of the lasso tools. I select what I want, and then using the fill tool I fill it with any colour, and then to make compound shapes I just make another selection, and then staying on the same layer you just fill again, for the best effect with the same colour.
