You mean the border ?
I can explain what I do .
1 . Make a shape
Attachment 93364
2 . Select the shape (Ctrl+click on layer mask thumbnail).
3 . Go to Select > Modify > Contract ... contract with 5 -10 pixels as you want .
4 . Layer via cut , and hide the new cut layer
Attachment 93367
5 . Now go to blending options, and make the border style as you want .
I thought I would post my way of doing a border
I think this way is simpler....
1. Make a shape.
2. Right click the layer, select 'Rasterize layer'
3. Set the 'Fill' of the layer to "0".
4. In the blending options, do stroke, having the size border you want. Click OK.
5. Now, make a new layer, and select the new layer and the border layer (Using Ctrl + Click), then right click and 'Merge layers'.
If this isn't simpler, I guess it is the way we learn how to use the program. Some of my friends who own Photoshop always use different techniques to get the same result, and I guess it is the same way here.
Thanks a lot, Dom !! You know my learning procedure. Everything happened in front of your eyes ... thats all my training and development program. I know that it may be peculiar, but till date it was the way I used every time .
Now please help me . As I followed all the steps you guideded, how can I add bevel an emboss to that border ? I am stuck there . (Got a wayout though ... cut the border as a different layer, and do it . But it must not be the real way I think ).
Made a new sig. Think I'll attempt a border and glass button look next. I'll have to challenge myself with Ms Pub and paint.net. I only have Photoshop on my work machine and I'm on vacation.
