monitor control shortcut

I know about desktop shortcuts for shutdown and restart, useful, and i also have screensaver icons, but what i really need is a shortcut that when i double click the icon, the monitor goes into standby mode just as it does after a certain amount of time that i set in the screensaver.

You need to download NirCmd from NirSoft, unpack the zipped folder and place the created folder and contents somewhere safe. Then follow this Tutorial which details precisely (well, maybe not precisely!!) what you are looking for.
I also found This, might be more what you are looking for.
