Win 7 Starter desktop issues...Oceanis, regedit etc

After googling and finding a few threads on how to change the desktop on my daughters new Netbook, I thought I would give it a try.
I didnt really want to install any 3rd party software so this is what I did and where I got it all so wrong!

I took permission of the img0.jpg file, renamed it and replaced it with one of my own. That didnt work, I just got the black screen.
I then tried the regedit process where I pointed the wallpaper to the default directory...still nothing, black screen.

I then installed Oceanis and on rebooting had major problems where system would start with a critical error, no net connection, no AV and no IS. No ability to uninstall Oceanis and basically giving lots of errors with regards not enough quota to do anything!

Eventually managed to get rid of Oceanis and am now back to where we have a working netbook but with a black desktop.
I tried changing the permissions on the img0.jpg file but cannot for the life of me get it back to being owned by TrustedInstaller. At the mo it just says unable to show current owner.

I thought I might just as well reinstall windows but my OEM files appear to be corrupted as it fails at expanding windows files 40%.

Any way I can get the horrible blue default desktop back for my daughter?
    TIA.

you tried to change the desktop background? Did you try right clicking on the desktop, clicking personalize?

josef, without quit a bit of tweaking, or the Oceanis program, you can not change the background on Windows 7 Starter.
