Desktop Icons - Lock Position ?

I've placed my recycle bin in the bottom right of the desktop, but every time I log out then back in, it moves back to the top left, is there a way to lock the position, or to make it remember it? Thanks.

    Hello Jim,

When you right click on the Desktop and click on View, check to make sure that both Auto arrange icons and Align icons to grid are unchecked.

You might also be interested in pinning the Recycle Bin to the taskbar to not have to worry about it on the desktop.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks Shawn... Yes both of those are off, it stays put just fine, until I restart or log off... I did see the pin to taskbar, but I prefer to keep it on the desktop. Thanks. :)

I can't seem to duplicate that on my system. It stays put when I log off and on or restart.

As a test, you might see if creating a new administrator account and testing it in that account to see if it works in it.

Hmm, double checking, it does not do it when logging off and back in, only upon restart. I also have align to grid disabled.

Edit: Seems to work now, maybe it was because I simply restarted and never actually logged off, I don't know weird, thanks :)

Could be, but I'm happy to hear that you seem to have it sorted out now. :)

Just to help others out! I had a problem similar to this with dual screens, one going through a onkyo receiver. I had my computer hooked up to it for audio and video from my PC. The receiver also has a projector hooked to it.

Needless to say I logged off back in and it worked!

What it did before was as soon as I would turn the receiver on to get sound from my PC both screens would blink and my primary LCD would have the icons messed up. Once I shut the receiver down, the icons would somewhat go back. Very annoying issue. I wonder what is actually causing this. I updated my video card driver thinking that was the issue, but nope.

Hi rekd0514, I have similar problem and I use extended screen. Now whenever I connect or disconnect my LCD my desktop icons go wierd and they are all rearranged in a strange way.
You found a resolution to this problem or it's still open ?
