Windows 7: Blurry Wallpaper

I got this new computer with Windows 7 about 3 weeks ago and I've never been able to get a clear wallpaper picture other than with what was already loaded on the system.



Anything I try and load on there is just very blurry.

Also with Windows 7 are the icons on the desktop supposed to be much larger than with XP?

Any chance you could take a screen grab and post it in here .... if the images are to small and low in quality they will look poor when "stretched" or set to "fit"

Hello Stephen. To fix the icon problem, right click the desktop, go to view in the menu, and options will appear next to original context menu. Select small icons.

For the wallpaper problem, what is the resolution of your screen? What is the resolution of the wallpapers you are using? If you use a wallpaper with a resolution that does not match that of the screen, it will enlarge, shrink, or stretch the wallpaper to fit the screen, which may result in blurriness.

As said, it is probably a smaller picture than the resolution you have on there now.

This is what I'm using now.

This is what I was using with XP. I've also tried it here and it's blurry as well.

Those pictures are kind of small (1280x839). Plus the images are most likely being stretched. The pictures have an aspect ratio of 1:1.525...
1920x1080 is aspect ratio of 1:1.77777... (16:9). The aspect ratio of the pictures don't match that of any computer monitor/tv (16:9 or 16:10 [1:1.6]).

One option you have is right clicking the desktop and going to personalize. Go to the menu to change the wallpaper. I believe the "fill" option is the one to zoom into the picture, instead of stretching it one way or the other.

But why did they work with XP? I tried the fill option but that left too much black screen. It didn't look very good.

Okay, where was the black? Fill shouldn't leave any black bars.

Hello Stephen, any image below your screen resolution is going to degrade, pixelate, blur, whatever you want to call it!!
I have posted one of the images at your screen resolution 1920*1080, Let us know if its still 'Blurry'

My bad, it was Fit that left black bars on the sides. Fill is what it's set on now.
