How to dock Windows Live Messenger next to the clock

I have my computer set to NOT stack items in the task bar. Whenever I have windows live messenger running, and I have the window open, there are two big tabs in the task bar; the window I have open, and the tab that is always displayed even if I have live minimized.

Is there a way to dock it next to the clock so that it does not take up as much space, like it was in XP? I only want a tab to be displayed on the start menu if I have the window displayed on screen.

    Thank you.

Hi wkw427 if you want Windows Live Messenger to default to Xp/Vista behaviour (in the notification area) then simply run it in Compatibility Mode with Vista: Compatibility Mode

to make it always appear on the taskbar (next to the little flag) then click your notification area (the up arrow) and then click "Customise" change Windows Live Messenger to "Show Icon and Notifications"

oh and if you actually want it to be next to the clock, then you can drag the icon to the place you want it :)

No Problem :) Glad I could help, Thats the first thing I changed too when I got Win 7, although I have grown quite fond of the new method, makes it handy when running multiple WLM sessions, because if you close the preview box with your username on it, it closes just that session and leaves the others open whereas rightclick>exit closes all of them.
