    @Arc
    I am using Ultimate x64, after applying all the required steps to change folder icons, I still get the same original folder icons.
    But when I open Resource Hacker, it show all my Folder icon had changed.
    I had reboot and it still remain the same.
    Any idea? Thanks!

    As I dont use 64 bit OS , I am not 100 % sure .... but Now you should rebuild your icon cache , and delete thumbnail cache . I hope they should work . If not , you may need to edit the imageres file in syswow64 , too . But before doing it , try the first two options ... rebuilding icon cache and deleting thumbnail cache .

    And keep me informed please . It will help me to learn .

    I changed the file in sysWOW64 too...rebuild icon and deleted thumbnail cache using Disk Cleaner. Some icon turn to intended icon but the rest remain the same.

    IF you change the folder view once to extra large and and reset to large again , is it work ? It is to Reset the cache anyhow to get those working .

    If the slider does not work ... place a new folder in that unchanged folder and then delete it . Sorry for my lack of experience with 64 bit ... but one of these two may disturb the previous cache ... which is still effective after everything .

    Then it is a troublesome situation pal ! I change those icons off and on , and those steps always work for me . I can hope that after one or two reboots it may come normal ... let a bit of time pass .. and hope the positive .

    Anyway , I hope you have replaced all the five icons . It is very important to replace no. 3 with supplied no 4 .

    @KotaXor:

    Most probably your Windows is downloading auto updates now and re writing the reg values. This explains why you see the changed icons through res hack but it does not appear in real. Using any third party icon changing tool will re write the reg values too, along with changing the bitmap. You can use custom icons or folders effectively then.

    Basically I use Yamicsoft Windows 7 Manager (x64), which is paid multi function software something like CCcleaner ; but allows some extra things to do.

    You can find out some thing free equivalent .
