@ Acidi Borici : did you ever try to set the Folder size under View to medium?
I realized when my folders were set to "small" it wouldn't change here either.

Besides that: if I create a new folder and move movieclips into it, I have to go to customisation first before the new icon shows.

Yea, i tried it too but no luck.
This is crazy! WHen i open imageres and shell in IcoFX, i see new ( custom ) icons BUT when i create new folder and go to customization i see default yellow icon and when i go to "change icon" all icons on list are default Windows one!
This is crazy and i`m really feels like a idiot.
For god sake this is just open file-edit-save-copy/paste operation!
I dont know, i really dont know what else should i do to make this damn thing to work!
I`m frustrated, i have spent couple of hours playing around with icons and didnt make anything!

Have another try . It is really possible to edit imageres.dll , and it takes effect , too !

Had I been in place of you, I'd run the system file checker to have the defaults back, and had a second attempt . Acrually I do it off and on ... say 4 times in a week , one of my windows look like this
Icons are changed but i dont see any results-capture.jpg

If you want to know, I follow the method similar to you, but I use reshacker .

I also used reshacker (the last beta V3.5.2.84) even tho it gave me an Out of memory-error for every group I touched, it worked. (i didn't mess with the shell32.dll just with the imageres
To have the new icon show up I had to set the size in explorer\ view to anything bigger than "small".
But I understand the frustration. I would step back, take a deep breath, restore the defaults and take a fresh approach in a few days after getting "some distance". As the people in Germany say "The devil is in the details"

Yes, i want to use MrGriim`s icons and Alienware icons from same board.
I tried with installer - nothing
    without instaler - nothing
tried with restorator/res hacker - nothing
When i open Total Commander i see changes - i see new icons for folders, hdd`s, everything but when i open Win Explorer - i see default win icons.
I realy dont have any more ideas wtf is going on.

Mr Grim installer should work just fine but readme.txt says:

    ---
The files required for backing-up are as follows:
    (32Bit)
    x:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll
    x:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll
    x:\Windows\System32\imagesp1.dll

    (64Bit)
    x:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll
    x:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll
    x:\Windows\System32\imagesp1.dll
    x:\Windows\SysWOW64\imageres.dll
    x:\Windows\SysWOW64\shell32.dll
    x:\Windows\SysWOW64\imagesp1.dll
    ---

I didn't tested this myself but I'd give it a try manually replacing resources in both folders...
