    Disable/Remove Windows Explorer Address Bar

    Hello,
I am an IT technician in a school and we have realised a security issue

We'd thought we had removed any access to network resources but turns out when the students go to Libraries > Downloads, they can look at the address bar (breadcrumbs?) to click on the servers.

All i need is a way to remove the address bar in WINDOWS explorer (NOT internet explorer) whether it be a registry hack or a group policy change. Just that i dont want to download the avenobreadcrumbs or breadcrumbskiller / whatever theyre called.

Would appreciate any help at all :)

    Hello, all

I want to remove the windows explorer address bar, too! Seems nothing out there to do so...sad...

(This is the last thing I need to remove. What I want is that when the student user logon, all they can see is just only a shortcut to a network folder where has a file sitting there they can click to run, nothing else. Now, when they click the shortcut, it opens up the folder. The folder window still has "windows explorer address bar", from there they can at least go to C:\ and see all the files and delete files from there. I want to let them no choice but only to click the file in the folder.)

We can do that in XP. But since Windows 7 is so nice, could anyone help me? Thanks!

What's to stop me from going to Internet Explorer and typing C:\ in the address bar?
Or press Alt+Up to go all the way to the Desktop and get access to your whole system?
Disabling UI in Explorer is not the right way to do security. Especially if you are protecting against students with lots of free time on their hands :)
If you don't want people to view or modify resources (folders, network servers, registry, etc) you have to do the work and set the proper permissions.

You are right! I just set the permissions up. Now, even they can go to C:\, they can't delete any file, add any file, or change any file's name. Thanks! :)

I also setup "restrictrun" as before that they can only run such programs.

But, still, if we could also remove the Windows Explorer Address Bar, I would do that also.

I also want to remove Windows Explorer address bar, mostly for the economy of space and also because it is useless and looks ugly (and does not respect the system font settings).

I managed doing this for all themes except the Classic theme using Windows Style Editor. But I use the Classic theme. Please add this feature if it is possible.
