    Editing OEM Information

    Hi all,
I have used OEM Info Tool (OEM Info Tool 1.2) on severall machines to edit OEM Information.
The last time I have used it, on Windows 7 Professional, 64 bits, I had no sucess!
And I had to back up the information. Every time I launch it, it knows I have already used it, so it must me stored in a file.
Can anyone help me find what file is this?

    Thanks,
    Jorge Martins

are you running the program as administrator?

right-click on the program (or shortcut) >> properties >> compatibility tab, and click run as admin box.

    then try again.

please let us know if it worked or not.

i've just tried the program, and it didn't seem to work for me.

    it modified the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation

but i believe it should have modified
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation instead.

i can't seem to find a file on the hard-drive that it uses.

When I start the program it knows that it is been already used, so, to use it again I must backup up.
It must store this backup somewhere!

    Sorry Mickey,
You've said that it modified the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation
    What key is that?
After using the software I have checked the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation" and it wasn't changed!!
I already used it before with Windows 7, 32 bit and it worked!
    Thanks,
    Jorge

i'm not sure, but i think the program only works on 32bit systems. it doesn't seem to modify the right keys in x64.

what do you mean 'What key is that?' i've already told you...:)

have a look at this thread for alternative means of editing the info.

    Mickey,
Yes, I've seen what you've said about that registry key, but I have checked 3 machines with 7 Ultimate 32 bits, and only in one of them there is this "WOW3263Node", but no OEM Information there!
So, is this key needed? Should I delete it?
    Thanks

i would delete it. it's not doing anything.

it seems that the software is badly written, and edits the wrong key in x64.
