    SideShow Managed "Problem"

    Hey guys,,,

This is my second post in this forums, as im kinda new to windows. I was a Mac User for a long time.

anyway, i have a gaming computer that i bought like 3-4 weeks ago, and up to now i have formatted my computer like 15 times or more, no joke lol. All due to my poor knowledge of windows. So i had windows SideShow managed installed before and it was working just fine, but after formatting my computer the last time, i tried to install it over and over with no success. When i install it, it says that its like have been installed successfully, and then when i got look for it by going to start menu and search for it in the search bar i can find the folder but not the program. The folder is located in the user folders/myname/apps/local/windows ... something like that, but the program it self isn't there. There are two files in the folder which are some system file and a folder for gadgets. I can see it in the programs where i can un-install it, but not anywhere else. When i had it before, i used have it in my control panel.

I have a Logitch G19 Keyboard, and i need this program so i can install Sidetunes in order to play music while playing or anything else, since the G19 have LCD screen where u can browse your Itunes music. but more importantly i wanna know why i get get SideShow to work.

    - does it have to be installed on the primary desk where windows is installed ? If so, why i cant choose a path with i install it, and why i have it on my D: drive under user files ?

heres the links of the SideShow and SideTunes.

Download details: Windows SideShow Managed Runtime 1.0

    Windows Live Gallery

Thank yall for reading that long post lol

Well, you don't really have to install Sideshow per se. As long as you have the Windows Gadget Platform, which I believe is installed by default with Windows 7, then you should be fine. The second component you need to install are the drivers from the Logitech website for your G19 keyboard. Just go to Support + Downloads and download the latest drivers for your keyboard. You may need to reboot after they have installed. After that, go to the Control Panel and if you use the "Large Icons" view (click on where it says Category on the top right and change it to "Large Icons") and you should see Windows Sideshow listed there.

You can then go to Windows Live Gallery to download some Gadgets for your G19. Let us know how this works out for you.

aw great, its working. I never thought of updating my G19 software, but still i find it weird ! what does G19 software have to do with Sideshow? i mean as i said when i downloaded it first it wasn't even showing up, but now it does.

Anyway thanks for the tip :)

Wait, so you updated the G19 software, and then you were able to install sideshow?

Well, unlike in Vista where Sideshow shows up regardless, in Windows 7, you have to have a Sideshow compatible device installed on your PC before it will actually show this category in the Control Panel, hence why you need the G19 Software. Without it, generally (unless it's available automatically via Windows Update) your keyboard will be seen as a generic keyboard, which would not allow Sideshow to appear.
