20 pixel chasm between left side of window and its files

is there a way those of us who aren't yet on 20"+ LCDs and can barely waste so much as 5 pixels on superfluous spacing are able to reduce this wasted space between the border and the files? (the way it's possible to economize space elsewhere: to use a smaller taskbar; smaller icons; to change the grid alignment and icon spacing on the desktop, etc.)

do you mean this yawning monster 'chasm' in windows explorer?

it's a very useful space if you want to right-click and add a new folder, or paste etc.

I prefer to click in the massive spacious region to the right of file or folder names (invariably some are shorter than others, and with the window expanded far enough to read them all there is more than enough space for right-clicking)
