Kudos to the Classic Shell Dev.

I originally came here looking how to make "All Programs" my default so I could organize by folders like I used to on XP. But Classic Shell lets me do that.

I only miss ONE feature from the Win7 start bar. The active search/run box at the bottom. Possible to add that to classic shell so I can have the best of both worlds?

The latest version of Classic Shell supports many control combinations. For example you can have the Win key open the classic menu, and Shift+Win to open the Windows menu. I assume before you open it you know if you are going to be searching or not

BTW, one of the reasons there is no search in the classic menu is that the search box will be stealing the keyboard input. So you can't just press Win, P, I (for Programs -> Internet Explorer). There are other reasons too, like "it's hard to do" :)

Not sure what you mean? Shift+win doesn't seem to do anything for me in 1.03 that I DL'd today.

It's no biggie, it was just a would be nice, not worth it if it is a PITA.

The latest version is 1.9.0 beta. You have to dig in the files section to find it (because it is an early beta and not 100% stable). A new, more stable version 1.9.1 is coming this weekend.

    Tried the Beta.

    Awesome!!!

I have only been using Win7 since this weekend so I kind of wanted to keep the Win7 start bar around. This lets me have both. Perfect!

Love the Dir Up level button in Explorer as well. That was the other thing I missed.

Now Win7 feels much more familiar.

    Thanks Much.

Is there any progress on the original Idea of opening All programs automatically. I'd prefer this to the classic menu, every thread with this subject seems to get hijacked by the classic menu. I admit it is a better solution to our other options but I don't see why we can't try to improve on it
Several years later.... Same question as above :)

Is there a way to connect the meaning of clicking on the Orb to clicking on the 'All Programs' button? If there is no easy Regedit solution, are there other possibilities (without installing Classic menu etc.)?

    Edit: Sorry, I'm an idiot:

I had ignored that last post because I thought it was, again, talking about Classic Shell etc....
