    OEM Branding

    I was poking around the forums and couldn't find anything about changing OEM Branding (The pic and OEM information in my computer properties)
    I thought some ppl would like to know how to change this or add their own image and info.

    Open a text file and past this in it.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation]
    "Logo"="C:\\Windows\\System32\\oemlogo.bmp"
    "Manufactuter"="whatever you want"
    "SupportHours"="whatever you want"
    "SupportURL"="whatevery you want"
    "SupportPhone"="(555)whatevery you want
    Change the whatever you wants to the info you want

    Name it whatever.reg

    save a logo (max 120x120) as oemlogo.bmp and save it in C:\windows\system32

    Doubleclick whatever.reg and click yes.

    Now you have Branded your PC.

    Very useful info for those not willing to use 'tweakers'! Unlike myself.

    Yeah, there is a tutorial on it from the sister site Vistax64, I guess he hasn't gotten around to making one for over here yet.

    Slithernet,
    searching for the solution to replace the Intel Logo (which flashes when we power on the PC). Have once read in the product guide of the motherboard about some flash image.... not sure.
    Can you make it more simple to understand and follow your guidance/instructions.
    Please

    No. you miss understood me, I forgot to put question mark ?. someone said to me, that this might be illegal because I created a program that do this tweak. He said about a propriety laws that prohibits this.

    so my question is "IS THIS ILLEGAL IN GENERAL OR NOT".

    again...WHO CARES? LOL do you think anyone would really come after you IF IT WAS? but like I said in my previous post it is our computer and we can do what we want, but let me ask you this, if it was illegal who would go after you? microsoft or the manufacturer? like HP/Dell/Acer ect ect? and why your using the same brand your replacing no? I dont think anyone would put HP if it was a dell, so where is the illegalality?

    I think that some people do care a lot about what is legal or not, to make it easy, all you have to think is, "Am I damaging, hurting, offending someone anyhow?" If the answer is no, then you don't have to loose your good night's sleep about it, even if it's illegal, shouldn't be, and positively no one will come after you!
    So if you are reading this post, change whatever you want in your PC, otherwise you will end up with something Apple-style (I call Ass-style, everyone has one like that) they all look a like :-(.

    Great post, quick and easy!

    Thanks!
