You need program that can edit aero.msstyle
    I used restorator
then extract from aero.msstyle images with No. 6xx.png (see pic.)
edit and import new edited images and save (not save as) aero.msstyle
On desktop selection I used only 2px border all is transparent.

and what should i use to edit images? just like photoshop or is there something built into restorator?

U can use photoshop or paint.net (more compatible with msstyles)
    Then follow instructions in pic.1
Pic2. instructions to replace Aero.msstyles with modified one
(assuming that before a classic theme is selected not basic or aero)
Ps. U must take ownership of that file first search the forum for instruction

all of this has been so helpful and the only thing i am having trouble with is trying to import those edited png files back into the aero.msstyle folder. i have all the pngs and i might edit them a little more but i cant find out how to import them through restorator. do i have to go through a different process?
