yes exactly, is that a special program or something? and is it only for the border? or can you change the fill color and transparency too?

You need program that can edit aero.msstyle
I used restorator
then extract from aero.msstyle images with No. 6xx.png (see pic.)
edit and import new edited images and save (not save as) aero.msstyle
On desktop selection I used only 2px border all is transparent.

U can use photoshop or paint.net (more compatible with msstyles)
Then follow instructions in pic.1
Pic2. instructions to replace Aero.msstyles with modified one
(assuming that before a classic theme is selected not basic or aero)
Ps. U must take ownership of that file first search the forum for instruction

If its size it's about 1mb + - is the right one
Mine is 1.6mb but heavy modified
I have disabled in folder options
"hide extensions for known file types"
when this option enabled

all of this has been so helpful and the only thing i am having trouble with is trying to import those edited png files back into the aero.msstyle folder. i have all the pngs and i might edit them a little more but i cant find out how to import them through restorator. do i have to go through a different process?
