Brex's High Tech Custom Desktop Having a pathetic collection of dull icons look up at me from my desktop all day is just not enough for me!
I confess I am an info-junkie. I itch and burn to see numbers and graphs and to know the hidden details of my system! As much as I can know and see all at once!
I am also disappointed in the future. There is no coffee table computers with voice and gesture recognition in the shops. No virtual reality internet interface, no robots mining mars!
These two attitudes lead me to push my GUI to the maximum. Scroll down to the bottom to see my attached pictures. Most of my desktop, as you see below, is filled with delicious information. Information about not only upload and download speeds, but amount transferred. Not just free HDD space, but current load and temperature. CPU activity on all cores, Separate temperatures for each. Swap, Ram and much more...
But system information becomes something of a bore, so I also like to keep current news streaming across my desktop via RSS feeds. I keep a smaller gadget for articles I save to my ReadItLater account, so as to remind myself to actually read them later...
Also, on a personal information note, my desktop calendar does more that just show me where I am in the month,... It shows me upcoming appointments, daily chores. I never forget a birthday or anniversary, as my desktop and Google calendar sync up perfectly (also my phone).
Numbers and text aside, I enjoy the sounds of music. My two desktop gadgets deliver both music, ambient sounds, and news to my ears.
So allow me to share my addiction with you! Forgive me if it snares you in it's clammy warm hands and thrusts you into a world of disappointment and feverish downloading of somewhat useful but mostly bloatware-like applications. Here is a list of my desktop content and links to where you can find them. Please feel free to ask any questions. Bluevision V0.2 Rainmeter Skins
