Windows 7: How to change colors icons from the taskbar ?

Hi,

How to change the taskbar colors for active and inactive programs ? There is not enough contrast of the two blue colors... I won't change color of the taskbar. Is there a way by the registry ?

I, honestly see a ton of difference. I can tell right away what's what.

No settings in the registry, I'm afraid. It's all drawn by dwm.exe based on your resolution, as far as I know.

You could look into custom shell skinning (a very well known, but $20 option is WindowBlinds by StarDock Stardock.com - Your Edge In Software)

This is not exactly what you were looking for but..... when you get to the color selection(picture below) Step #5 in the tutorial I tried some different settings on my computer. Select "Enable Transparency". Then select the gold second from right top. Then move slider to right to between 70-90%.
The icons in the Taskbar POP out at you compared to what they were. Gold worked best for me but select and try any other color and use the slider to chose a color saturation. I'm leaving mine like I described above. Much easier to see. Red worked well also. Picture below.

Click "Save Changes" when your done.

I could not find this earlier. It isn't what you wanted exactly but might help. It did me.

Aw shucks! Thought I had you some help.

I changed mine over and it is better. Different colors would be even better or a dark/light combo.

If I or someone else finds anything we will post it. So check back occasionally.
