    Login sound file help

    Hello Everyone,
Great forum/site you have here, I am here to ask for your assistance with windows 7 RC 1 7100.

What I would like to be able to do is change the windows sound at the login screen, I know how to
change all other sounds in windows 7 but I can not locate the login sound file in windows media folder.

Please if anyone knows how or were I can locate the login sound file your help would be most grateful.

    Thank you, Asta

As far as I am aware the reason you cannot find the logon sound file is that there isn't one

I believe that to better control when the sound played the sound was integrated into the start-up routine.

There is an option to not play the sound but not one to change it

Changing Log In sound in W7 ( I use RC x64)

Simply 'right' click desktop select 'personalize' then select 'Sounds'. After the Sounds dialog box appears click the sounds tab (if it is not already selected) then scroll down to find the sound you want to change (i.e. Windows Logon)

Windows offers different .wav files that are for certain themes. You can change them to what you like otherwise you will have to convert music or any other sound you want to .wav. I use Adobe Soundbooth and/or Media Encoder CS4. Good Luck
