best way to manage icons in w7?

Hi, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any apps to easily manage and change icons.

I remember back on winXP there was a small app to change any and all icons, like change all folder icons and so on, that also allowed you to save icon 'themes', I've been looking for something similar that works on win7 since I've recently been using custom msstyles from deviantart and such and i'd like to easily change all icons of a certain type (like folders) rather than having to go right click>properties>customise on every folder.

    Thanks.

Hi pyrokinetic and welcome to the forum.
Have you had a look here:
Right click on a space on your desktop. click "Personalize" and click "Change desktop Icons" in the left hand panel.

Yeah I have, I've already done that to change computer/network/user/recycle bin icons, but for folder icons I still have to change each one individually, I'm after a way to change default icons without screwing around with the registry.

Also it seems all the windows generated folders in my user dir can't have different icons, Properties>Customise has no option to change icons (see screenshot).

I'm basically after a way to change most of if not all common icons without spending hours in the registry or doing them one-by-one. The app I used for XP (can't remember the name) did this but I can't find anything for win 7.

Sorry I can't see a way to do this either. I must admit that this it not something that would bother me, I don't spend long enough just looking at my desktop to make it an issue. So long as the links work I'm not bothered what they look like but I can appreciate that this is important to some users. Perhaps another more learned member than me will be able to help.

Icons - Change Using Resource Hacker

In step 6, find the number of the icon . such as my music is 108, my document is 112 and my pictures is 113 ..... and so on .

https://www.sevenforums.com/943862-post22.html for changing live folder icons .

You may call me for any type of assistance , but dont forget to have the image backup as said in the links before starting anything .
