    Right click to save?

When I'm in a folder full of files, lets say excel xls files, I used to able to right click and choose save as and then choose xlsx to convert them. Thsi save as no longer exists in Windows 7. Is there a way to restore it?

What happens if you highlight the file and hit the Shift key at the same time you right-click?

Here's some help from our Tutorials:

I get 16 options by right clicking on a file, if I hold down shift I get 18 choices (Open with... and Copy as Path are the new ones), but still no save as..

If it helps, here's what I get:
    Open
    New
    Print
    Open with
    Scan with Sophos
    Upload using FTP
    Always available offline
    Restore previous versions
    Send to
    Cut
    Copy
    Create Shortcut
    Delete
    Rename
    Open file location
    Properties

Try this method from the Open With Context Menu Item - Add or Remove Tutorial, and read the notes from posters below the Tutorial, and the "Similar Threads" list at the very bottom of the screen. Hopefully you will find some help there.

    2. To Add "Open with" Back to the Context Menu
    A) Click on the Download button below to download the file below.
    Restore_Open_With.reg
    3. Click on Save, and save the .reg file to the desktop.

    4. Right click on the downloaded .reg file and click on Merge.

    5. Click on Run, Yes, Yes, and OK when prompted.

    6. When done, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.

    Sorted!

Ok I've resolved this thanks to another forum. The answer is to install the MS Office compatibilty pack which enables 2003 users to read 2007 format files. I hadn't installed it on teh Windows 7 machines as it shouldn't ahve been necessary, but its worth it for the 'save as' functionality.
