Windows 7: Cannot change background

Cannot change background

Hi all, I'm new to forum so please bear with me. I have read several posts re above but am really struggling. First I have Win 7 home premium. I am administrator and have set up a/c for wife. I changed my background no probs BUT cannot change wife's can anyone please help? If so please bear in mind I'm not up to speed with new PC and Windows 7 (prev PC 8 yrs old ). I tried to download a reg download suggested by someone who posted on this forum but it caused PC to crash!!

Hello Welshboy, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you post back a link to the post where this REG file is? I would like to take a look at it to make sure it is safe, and what it was for.

Yep, that one is safe. It's not possible for it to have caused the computer to crash, so something else is going on with your system.

I would recommend for you to scan you system for malware or a virus with Malwarebytes and ESET Online Scanner to help be safe.

As a test, create another new standard or administrator account for your wife to see if you are able to change the desktop backgroup while logged in it. The other account may have been corrupted.

Thanks Brink...did as you said and deleted existing account and set up new...must have been corrupt file as you said as all fine now....thanks again!!
