Changing default directory in file manager?

I searched on this one, but I am having a touch time getting the right search terms.

I open the WIndows 7 file manager by right-clicking on the start button and then choosing Open Windows Explorer. It always defaults to Libraries, but I would rather it defaulted to C:\

Is there a way to change this?

No, I don't think so. I recall another member wanting to accomplish the same thing if memory serves

Hm. That seems silly. I know that I can put a new shortcut on my taskbar that will open a specific folder, but I have enough crap in my taskbar already. Darn.

What you could do is change the folder icon in your taskbar to open to C:\

Close windows on that icon if there are any open > Hold down shift and then right click > select properties > change target to C:\

Or you could try using quick launch: Quick Launch - Enable or Disable

Thanks guys, what I wanted was to have Windows Explorer open a default location when I started the program my usual way. Instead it looks like I will have to alter my habits and put another icon in my taskbar.

Thanks for the link to the quick launch stuff, I might go that direction.

Hi, I hope I don't misunderstand the question but here is how I changed the windows explorer standard folder:

Right click: windows explorer ► properties ► change target to:

Quote:
%windir%\explorer.exe /n, /e, d:\
► ok

Everytime I start windows explorer the default folder is no longer Librarys but the root of my second hard drive = d:\

Was it that what you were looking for ?

He was actually looking for a way to change it when you right click on the start menu and then select 'Open Windows Explorer'

Oh, now I see.
When I right click on start, I can select either "Properties" or "open Windows Explorer".
Never knew that. Windows is still a miracle to me.

Lol, it would be a miracle to change the directory from that right click menu

That is what blows my mind. I changed it on Vista I think, or maybe it was before that on XP. It was just a simple registry key change. Grrrr...
