windows explorer directory file size totals

anyone know how to get those to show without selecting a group of files? i know in xp i was able to enable the status bar and then it would show total size of files in a particular folder but in win7 it only shows a total size when the files are selected.
thanks.

when you first click a folder and open it , it should display the number of objects in the folder immediate (unless you click on something in the folder) at the bottom left of the screen. ...that is the default behavior at least.

Thank you for a quick reply but i made a mistake in asking my question originally. what i meant to say is the total size of files in a folder not the total #. i will correct my original post now. sorry

I've always just right clicked a folder and chosen properties to get that information. Whether that is the only way or not I don't know.

In win7 all you need to do is select the folder and leave your mouse pointer "hovered" over the folder and you will get a balloon that shows you the "folder size"
