Hello tdk08,
Welcome to the forums.
There may be a third party app that will do that, but you can click on any folder in the path and be taken to that folder. Called a breadcrumb trail or something like that. The arrows next to each folder will give you a list of what's there.

The breadcrumb is not as good as the old up-button in XP and unfortunately not a perfect alternative. The biggest problem is that it does not support ctrl-click (which should open the folder in a new window). Ctrl-click on the up-button did that, and it's very useful... I have no idea why on earth MS didn't implement that in the breadcrumb also - that would be the easiest thing in the world for them, and it would not break any new UI-philosofies...
However, there is help :)
I bought "Mavis Up Button" (only $5) and it works in both Vista and Windows 7 (including ctrl-click of course)! The only problem I've found with it is that it does not support multiple running instances of explorer.exe. Now, that's not very common, but some apps open a new explorer.exe, and that causes explorer to crash :/ At least on my Vista 64-bit...
So..... I got the 7 upgrade for the older HP Pavillion running through my TV in the living room. Runs great too. Got a nice mouse, enabled the onscreen keyboard, and put the actual keyboard away. I'm really missing that up button in Explorer.
Has anyone found a way to enable the lost XP feature?
I'm running both 32 and 64 bit systems.
Since Vista I've gotten very used to clicking in the address bar to navigate up. I find it easier almost since I can skip multiple folders. For opening in a new window I jsut right click the folder in the nav pane and select open in new window.
You know, I been googling etc about this very problem and HUNDREDS of people on dozens of forums, message boards etc have complained about not liking the bread crumbs and wishing there was a way to add in the up button again.
I tried the trial of Mavis Up Button but considering I need it for about 6 computers, it's kind of a rip off.
Looks like it was cracked "Mavis.Up.Button.v1.0-Lz0" but I sure as heck can't find it.
I can't believe no ones made a free little tool to add this in yet with as many people as there are asking. I'm actually shocked.
Hopefully someone does soon, I don't really like the bread crumbs either.
I am working on a free utility that adds the Up button to Windows Explorer (among other features). See attached screenshot.
It is still in beta and I could use some testers. If anybody is interested, contact me at {REMOVED} and I can send you a copy.
