    "Open with..." is not adding new programs to the list of defaults.

    I am trying to add 3rd party programs to my list of programs to appear under the list of default programs to open files with when selecting the command "Open with...". However, when I browse for them and pick the appropriate executable, nothing happens and the program isn't added. Someone has been telling me that this can be fixed by going into the registry and fixing it from there, but I'm not entirely sure what to do. I'd really appreciate any help with this.

    How are you trying to do this? "Open with" gives you the opportunity to browse for a program, and select what you have chosen as a default if you wish. But you have to choose it as a default.

    Hello Manick,

    The program will have to be able to support opening that file extension for it to work though.

    You might see if this may be able to help.

    Hope this helps,

    @Mike Connor

    Yes, that is how I am trying to do it. After I click on "Choose default program..." and then "Browse..." in the "Open with" window, I search for the executable, select it, but it doesn't appear under the list of Recommended Programs or Other Programs.

    @Brink

    These programs do support this type of file. Normally, I have to click-hold-drag these files over the program executable, and have it open them that way, but that is very time consuming. I'll take a look at that link you posted.
