Logon Screen changed after Factory Restore - Windows 7

    Hi
I have just completed a Factory Restore and no longer have the familiar Windows 7 logon screen, the one with a blue background with leaves and a white bird. I have a dark grey logon screen instead. Everything else on the logon screen seems to be in order. Can anyone tell me how to get the original one back?
My computer is a Dell Studio XPS 9000 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I don't have a Dell, but I do have a HP. It came with a customized Windows theme (HP styled.) What I did to get the default login screen and such back was to right click the desktop, choose personalize and selected "Windows 7" from under Aero Themes.

if that doesn't work, maybe the factory default image has modified core Windows files in it to style it to Dell's liking. If that is the case, then this tutorial can get the default windows files restored: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker (Option #2)

Thank you very much for this, Fayla

I did as you suggested, right-clicked the desktop, chose personalize and selected "Windows 7" from under Aero Themes, and got the original logon screen back. I also got the Desktop Background and Window Glass for that theme which I didn't want.

I changed the Window Glass and Desktop Background to what I wanted, and an unsaved theme was created. This time I did not click on the unsaved theme or save it. I think that is how the logon screen got changed to grey last time.

I'm happy now. It is amazing how much the screen visuals can affect one.

Yes it would change the background and glass color too.

If you have a named-and-saved theme active, then you go and modify the glass/background/sound settings of it-- it will automatically create a "unsaved theme" next to your saved themes.

In this case, Dell would have had their factory restore system image set to use their custom theme over the standard Windows 7 Aero by default (it is easy to change defaults such as this when making a system image/customized windows installer disc.)

You will be able to save your themes without worrying about the login screen getting changed from now on
