Change tray icon visibility defaults

Hola, any chance to change how new/unknown applications' icons should be handled by notification area, if I have always show all icons and notifications on main panel turned OFF. Despite that explorer time from time crashes, user settings are forgotten and I always have to setup all applications icons from scratch. It suxxx - mainly I want to have tray icons shown, but not always. Any hidden tweak, registry hack, similar? I wanna have the default action set to "Show icon and notifications" instead "Show notifications only" which is less common.

Microsoft has made available a hotfix that will resolve a problem where the taskbar customizations are lost and reset to defaults when automatic logon is enabled in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
That's not the case. In all cases I lose notification icons customizations just when explorer crashes. I don't use automatic logon. Instead of that I need to change the unknown application icon show status default from hidden to shown. Its pitty that M$ wants to hide all icons by default. I don't think this is a preference of majority of users.

I agree, though system tray icon clutter was once an issue, most users would prefer to have them visible by default I do believe. That's the whole point of the system tray (notification area), to give you some idea of background applications running and allow for easy control of them.
