Game Explorer - How can I edit the box art? (Tried using VGEE already)

Hi there. I want to change the box art for some of the games I have in my Games Explorer folder. I have downloaded VGEE but it gave me the error that I don't have any installed games or something of the sort and closed when I clicked ok. I've looked through the manual way of adding games through the registry but I'm guessing Vista's registry was designed differently to Windows 7 because I can't find any title strings called BoxArt as it appears in his guide. I have enabled the "download art and information about installed games" option but all I see in my Games Explorer folder are the games original icon, no box art or description. I have a few Games For Windows games (Crysis, Crysis WARHEAD and Crysis Wars) which has the box art and information so it is working but for other games I have like Mafia, Quake II and Quake 4, its just showing the game's original icon, no box art or anything. If I can't get the games to download the box art from the internet, is there any way I can edit it myself? Thank you.

Ive tried VGEE in the past, and had it break things more than its fixed.
It may take a bit to get the hang of, but doing this all manually is really the easiest, and best method.

These will help you add all your games to the Game Explorer.
If your game isnt listed there, you can always use anything (Such as HalfLife), and edit it the info to match the game you added in the registry.

For the box art itself, download a picture of what you want.\
Use a Photo editing software like Photoshop, GIMP, or PAINT.NET and crop/resize to either 500x500 or 250x250.

The browse to the hidden folder
C:\Users\ [UserName] \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Windows \ GameExplorer \ GameBoxArt

Look for the cover art the game Explorer downloaded, and copy its name, and rename the Boxart you made the same.
Replace original.

Thanks for the information Wishmaster. The problem though is that I can't find anything in the GameBoxArt folder. Its empty so I can't find any file to replace it.

The information is missing from the registry most likely. The easiest way is to re-add the game folling the 1st Tutorial.

Do the games launch from explorer properly? You may be able to just locate the game, and add the BoxArt line.

I had a look in the registry and the keys are there because I can see the game exe in one of the strings, along with other strings. Yeah, they launch fine from Games Explorer.

Have you got Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with SP1 installed? I get same problem, games like Crysis, Hellgate London written post Vista Game Explorer coming oout populate the Games Explorer fine in Windows 7. Older games like Quake 3 Arena, Doom 3 don't on mine. Just an icon in the Games Explorer. These older games worked fine downloading info and art on my other Vista 32-bit SP2 laptop. I reckon Windows 7 64bit SP1 is bugged on the Games Explorer for older games. Also the GameLegacy.dll resides in a sysWOW64 folder as well as system32 folder. Am no expert but 64-bit doesn't play too well with older games and the Games Explorer.

Weird, came in last night. Ran some windows updates that had come through. Looked in Games Explorer and it looks like it finally downloaded info on the games such as Doom 3, Quake 3 and Tiger Woods 2005. Not sure if it had been seriously delayed or the updates had helped. Box art didn't update but I guess that's because I already set my own up. In regedit their is now a URL in the boxart string. Odd behaviour, I wonder if my next 'older' game I install will update the Games Explorer properly?
