laptop screen won't stay on with lid shut

    Then it sounds more like you need to edit your monitor configs, maybe to set the external to be the only/primary display.

    Or a simple fix is when you have it hooked to the TV pick the option to display desktop only on the monitor(TV) you want it to. Just right click on the desktop, choose Screen Resolution, pick the Tab by Multiple displays and pick show desktop on whatever ID your TV is.

Hi, I have a Dell laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium which is stuck on the shutting down screen after I pressed install and shut down computer. I have left it plugged in so it doesn't run out of battery and shut down. How do I fix this?
