    Welcome to the Seven Forums
folder customization icon is changed when adding it to the setup file and installing it on another computer
You will need to explain better what you have done and which file have you changed?

I think the Question should be like this, what is the value that is made to the system or registry when making customize to the folder icon (specific icon).

I have used process monitor to capture value but still don’t know how to get it .

i have used that program too and it seemed to work only locally to where the computer is installed.

and if i copy that folder into a flash drive and view it from another computer, it seemed to lose its customized icon.
but my friend recommended me "folderchanger" and it solved this problem. Now my customized icons will looks the same no matter where i view them.

a lot of other programs doesn't seem to be able keep or at least allow user to transfer their current icon settings like folderchanger can. hope it can help you. it's at The Easiest Way to Make Your Folders Beautiful

I'm using "setup factory" program and when I add all the files and folder to make setup.exe, it actually don't add the folders only the files in ach folder and when installing it makes new folders and add the files to these folders so the folders loses it customization.
What actually made to the folder when using "folderchanger, foldermaker" or using the folder customize tab on windows , it adds hidden files in that folder its name Desktop.ini and the Icon the you choose ,now the Desktop.ini has the information to the reference icon.
now you can try this make another new folder on the desktop and copy "Desktop.ini and the Icon" to the new folder the result in nothing changed so there is values add to the system or registry that tells the windows of the new customization that is made to the new folder.
I need to get these values so I can make registry file runs after the setup finish to make the (New Folder) created through setup looks as it before adding it to the setup.exe.

theoretically you would need to have the icon you are changing the folder to ,in the actual folder so it moves with the folder to another computer,
it would also need to be vista or 7 that the folder moves to, to keep it showing.
i havent tested it yet but i will see if i can move a folder to the laptop and keep the icon.

edit: ok i tried using the method i thought would work but no good. so back to the drawing board.
