Can't click between icons to get context menu.

So, there's this little annoyance I've had with Windows 7. There's no "dead-space" between icons. It really only becomes an issue at two times: When I want to use the folder's context menu, and get the icon's context menu; and when I try to drag and drop something into a folder filled with folders. In the second case, I end up moving the folder into a subfolder on accident.

In any size "Icon" viewing mode, there is one or two pixels between the active areas of each icon. In "Detail" there is zero. If I want to see the folder's context menu, or drop something into the folder I am currently viewing, I have to use the 15-pixel dead space between the directory tree on the left and and first column of icons. "List" mode is better, but I don't want to use that in every folder.

I've tried increasing the space between icons, but the active area just increases along side it. I just end up with a larger hit-box for each icon. Is there anything I can do to increase the size of the dead area between icons? Or better yet, go back to the top-hat shaped active areas from older Windows?

You can use this;

QTTabBar

solves a lot of problems. You can just drop to a folder tab, no need to use the file view pane.

Hello Krma, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I find that while in "Details" view, it's best to widen the window a bit to have blank space on the right side to be able to right click on.

I find that while in a "Icons" view, you can right click easier along the space by the window borders and to scroll down to the bottom of the window.

Hope this helps,
