    Default Folder View Sucks

Ok, this has gotten ridiculous. In XP, I could set my folders view to list and never have an issue. Windows 7 flat refuses to retain that setting. I have searched for days now for a solution to no avail. Surely someone has come up with a solution or registry hack to resolve this problem as it seems to be extremely common and agitating. Any ideas?

No this does not permanently set the default. Reboots, etc. will reset the view to the Microsoft default.

In the library Properties, you can set it to Documents, Pictures, Videos, etc. But that ia all you can do.

    Hello Ron,

This should allow you to set a default folder view to all folders in Windows 7.

Folder View - Set a Default for All Folders

    Hope this helps,

Brink, that is exactly what I was looking for. Must have missed it somewhere in the past few days. Half a dozen reboots and everything is still set. Thanks

You're most welcome Ron. The one that Carolyn posted is good as well, but was to only set default folder views for specific folder templates instead of all of them.

So much for the short lived victory. Got on the computer about noon and all the folders had reset to list detail view instead of the list only I wanted. I know it is not a big deal but I get a little anal when I cannot make the machine do what I want it to. Back to researching this issue along with an Office 2010 issue of Word not holding the currency formats.

This issue plauged me in XP as well. It's acutally not changed at all better or worse that I've seen in 7.

Long running windows problem, it only /seems/ to go away for most people after a while because they stop creating new folders as much or at all after their setup has matured and have applied the above fixes once or twice in the past. Then it all seems stable (I'm at that stage with 7 myself now)

Sure would be nice to have a "Set all folders ike this and all NEW folders from now till the end of time unless I manually change them thankyouverymuch" option :)
