    Windows Aero Snap Problem

Hey Guys, sorry if I happen to be in the wrong section for this problem. I am having some problems with my aero snap. So to give some background, about a few weeks ago I was having some problems with my disk check at start up. It would reach 1 second and then just freeze (even pressing something to skip it would not respond or skip the disk check). About the same time my toolbar options have been bugging me about something changing my browser's default settings. Even after clicking save it would keep popping up and pestering me.

So yesterday, I have to be surfing the web and my computer crashed on me. When I turned it on the toolbar was light blue and all of my aero capabilities were gone. So I started looking around to see if I could find a solution. I troubleshot my aero (by using the search bar) and it brought back most of them (like peek and shake, but not snap). I also looked at control panel -> Ease of Access -> Change how your mouse works -> and made sure that I unchecked "Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen". So far nothing has worked. I could really use help with this problem because I use snap a lot!! Thanks.

Hello and welcome to Seven Forums. You may want to run a check for malware, viruses and rootkits. Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast Free. Any of these would be a great start in checking for problems.

That work's but I still want to use snap since I was able to use it before and faster than using the win key + left or right arrow.

So, I downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials, (I have AVG and Malwarebytes already) and the only thing my computer found wrong was the rootkey and i was able to delete it if it was malware. However, I am still not able to use snap even after deleting it and troubleshooting it again.

Sounds like something nasty did turn up. It is possible some settings were messed with by malware. Have a look at these posts over at Windows Guides. Fix Your PC After a Virus Removal and Re-Enable 2.0. Hope these do you some good.
