Replace default "Windows can't open this file" dialog
I'm trying to tell Windows 7 to use Notepad++ by default when opening a file type that it does not recognize. I found posts that say to modify "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Unknown\shell\openas\command" but this seems to have no effect.
The current value of (Default) is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe %1" yet I still see the generic RunDLL dialog appear. I have tried restarting.
What must I do to force Windows 7 to respect this registry entry?
