Start Menu / All Programs flyout

Hi there, I know there have been tons and tons of discussions regarding getting classic start menu back in W7. I personally don't mind the new start menu, especially the 'search programs and files' feature - it rocks! The ONLY thing that really really peeves me about it is the scrolling All Programs menu. I wish I had the option to have the classic flyout menu in order to be able to see everything at once. Does anybody know if this is still possible? I have no problem working in the registry and would prefer that than having to install 3rd party software but I would if I had to. Please be clear. I DON'T want the classic start menu back - I just want a flyout All Programs menu. It seems mad to me that menu items like Documents, Recent Items and Control Panel can still be set to 'Display as a menu' but All Programs can't be. Typical MS!!! No logic whatsoever.

I think people are misunderstanding your request.

I remember doing it a while ago - I think I replaced Recorded tv on the right side with something else I wanted as a fyout.

Damned if I can remember how atm.

Yes SIW2, In spite of my "Please be clear" comment people still aren't reading thoroughly. I look forward to hearing your solution - if it comes back to you

Yes, I think you can replace one of the unused slots with a link to the Start Menu folder. I've seen it described a few times on this forum. The problem is that it will show you only one folder, and not the combined contents of the per-user and the all-users start menu folders.

Classic Shell solves the problem correctly (and is skinnable). See the third screenshot here: Classic Shell: Gallery

So you can't put in picture in all programs? Just a colour? John

If that Name: arrowup.png
Views: 793
Size: 1.2 KB will not work for you have you thought of a Quick Launch on the taskbar pointing at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
-untitled.jpg
It can be moved over by the start button
Look at Quick Launch - Enable or Disable

Start Menu - making All Programs a menu?
Just moved to Windows 7. We're told over and over that the new start menu is better in every conceivable way, but the truth is, for a keyboard oriented power user like me, it truly sucks. At least, the default setup, and all the customizations I've attempted, truly suck swamp water. In XP, I...
