    Wandering Folder Icons

    Here's a strange problem I posted a while ago and still can't seem to solve. I have been using the Properties > Customize > Choose File feature for a lot of my folders, which helps make identification easier. When I do this, often I'll start seeing the images I chose for those folders appear in other completely different folders. For example, the computer image I chose for a collection of old computer pictures is showing in the folder I use for MP3s. Usually I can go to Restore Default and that will get rid of it, but there was one in which I had to move everything out of a folder and delete it entirely to fix the problem. I even had one instance in which the program icon for Quick Time was replaced by the one for J Downloader.

    I have tried deleting IconCache.db in my user profile without results. I've made sure the image in question is actually in the folder it represents, and isn't linked from somewhere else. I don't have any third party enhancers running. This has been the only consistent problem I've had with 7.

    Bleh...

    Have you tried flushing the Thumbnail Cache also? You can do this via CCleaner if you have or follow this forum tutorial...

    Thumbnail Cache - Clear and Reset

    Also;

    Icon Cache - Rebuild

    Restart Explorer cleanly after each by typing TSKILL EXPLORER in the Start/Search box and hit Enter.

    And have you tried renaming the images to simply- folder.jpg ?
