Changing the name of a taskbar icon on the fly?

Ok, bear with me. I play a few games more specifically Everquest. And I box a friends character occasionally. I get confused with having my characters and having his etc etc, my taskbar gets pretty clogged up. I have a hard time finding toons when i need ti have them do something. So to save me clicking through the icons I am wondering if there is any software that anyone is aware of that will allow me to temporarily change the name of a taskbar icon for a period of time. then change it back when I want.
so i could have like toon 1, toon 2, toon 3 etc. Does that make sense?

Sorry if i didnt explain properly and sorry if this is in wrong section

Thanks in advance
Mouldy
