Apologies for the delay...life takes over :) .
Glad you got your profile location sorted. The default profile is the profile windows sets up when a user account is created (before any customization).
The public profile (I believe...) shares those documents you wish to make public (i.e., share over the network).
I wouldn't worry about changing those over.
