    How to change icons when seing control panel in Category View?


    How can i change the icons when seing control panel in Category View !!

    These icons !!

    Please help !! Thanks !!

    They are in a Icon folder in the imagere.dll in C:\Windows\System32 & if you are using 64 bit it's in both C:\Windows\System32 & C:\Windows\SysWOW64
    1st do this System Restore Point - Create
    Make copy's of imagere.dll and put on the desktop and edit the .ico images with something like Gimp each .ico has layers to it edit each layer then you need to Take Ownership Shortcut then Permissions - Allow or Deny Users and Groups and rename the imagere.dll in C:\Windows\System32 & if you are using 64 bit it's in both C:\Windows\System32 & C:\Windows\SysWOW64 to imagere.bak.dll and put the imagere.dll you edited in there and restart your PC

    There is another way to do it ? I've tried iconspack installer but they didn't worked !!

    I have never tried iconspack installer. You need to use Resource Hacker or something similar to open up the imagere.dll and extracting icons, then edit them import them back in and save the new imagere.dll then replace it like I mentioned above.
    That's the only way I have ever done it.
