Modify Number of Characters per Line on Desktop Icon

I need to figure out how to modify the number of characters that can fit on one line of a desktop icon. I tried to research beforehand of course, only to find that the most common remedy that "allegedly" works, is increasing the horizontal icon spacing value. I tried this, even to the max value it allowed me of 150, but no change.

The example case problem in question is that, on my desktop, I have a folder icon that is titled "Administrator", but for some reason Windows automatically cuts off the text so it reads like this:

    [ Icon ]
    Administrato
    r

So it cuts off the "r" character at the end and drops it on another line. So naturally I would like to fix this so all the characters fit on one line.

Almost impossible with Windows 7 using only the horizontal spacing. The size of the icon also determines the amount of characters under the icon. Change the size of the icon and there is more lettering room under the icon. The font and size of font also determines the amount of characters under icons.

A good way to get rid of desktop icon headaches is get rid of desktop icons. :)

I can remember solving problems such as you mention by using a different description. Administrator may have become "Big Boss" 2 words no chopped characters. :)

What I do now is use categorized folders on RocketDock. The only time I have an icon on the desktop is when I use BullZip PDF printer driver to make a pdf file on the desktop. I move it to a folder and the desktop is clean again.

Also Standalone Stack is another way to categorize app shortcuts on the Taskbar and avoid anything but windows and toolbars on the desktop.

I wrote a small app to adjust the work area of the desktop so maximized windows do not cover RocketDock. Much nicer now. I only have a single monitor setup so it doesn't support multiple monitors. But if you have single monitor you may want to check it out. Adjust Work Area on this page(it's a freebie.
