WindowBlinds : Is it worth it Hey there guys! I was wondering... is WindowBlinds worth it to skin Windows? I don't really want to do it myself and when I tried to do it myself, I had so much problems with permissions that it became a chore just to apply a skin.
Do anybody got any problems with it? Is it worth it?
Thanks! | My System Specs |

I'm kind of the verge of buying it... that's why I'm asking if it's worth it. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom build OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 950 3.06 GHz Motherboard Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Memory Corsair XSM3 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 9-9-9-24 Graphics Card Asus nVidia GeForce GTX460 Factory Overclocked Sound Card HT-Omega Claro 7.1 Monitor(s) Displays Asus VW246H 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech K350 Mouse Logitech M510 PSU Xigmatek NRP-PC702 700W (cable hell) Case Lian-Li Lancool PC-K62 Cooling Stock fans for PC case, Cooler Master Hyper N520 for CPU Hard Drives 1x90GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD (System, internal)

If you like to do custom themes, go for it. I see you have the resources to handle it.
I've seen some samples of what you can create, and I think it would be fun if you're into it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DELLXPS 8300 OS WIN7 x64 Home Premium SP1 CPU Intel Core i5-2400 processor(6MB Cache, 3.1GHz) Memory 8 GB RAM Hard Drives 1.5TB C Drive |

I see... Well, no, I want to have the software to customize with ease Windows and have access to a lot of theme. I am not in theme creating (If I wanted to create a theme, I need extra software from the software vendor).
I've tried v5 and 6 before in the past when i was still using Windows XP. It was a really nice software, I liked it but the only problem was that it was really slowing down the system. From what I read from other sites, version 7 has really improved and well, the main problems before is now gone.
Does anybody uses WindowBlinds right now? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom build OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 950 3.06 GHz Motherboard Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Memory Corsair XSM3 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 9-9-9-24 Graphics Card Asus nVidia GeForce GTX460 Factory Overclocked Sound Card HT-Omega Claro 7.1 Monitor(s) Displays Asus VW246H 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech K350 Mouse Logitech M510 PSU Xigmatek NRP-PC702 700W (cable hell) Case Lian-Li Lancool PC-K62 Cooling Stock fans for PC case, Cooler Master Hyper N520 for CPU Hard Drives 1x90GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD (System, internal)

I don't use any of this stuff, because as you said, the thing that it usually does the most is "slow down the system". I'm not much into eyecandy myself, so I stay away from things like this. Give me performance and stability, over flashy and eyecatching. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

pparks1, WindowBlinds version 5 and 6 were known to cause slow down. However, from what I read, version 7 is a complete opposite of the older versions and was completely re-written. Heck, I read that WindowBlinds "overrides" the Windows GDI layer and, let me quote, "and is actually four times more efficient at rendering hardware-accelerated windows". Source
I kind of want to skin Windows because I'm getting a bit sick of seeing the good ol' windows and wanted to spice it quite a bit. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom build OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 950 3.06 GHz Motherboard Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Memory Corsair XSM3 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 9-9-9-24 Graphics Card Asus nVidia GeForce GTX460 Factory Overclocked Sound Card HT-Omega Claro 7.1 Monitor(s) Displays Asus VW246H 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech K350 Mouse Logitech M510 PSU Xigmatek NRP-PC702 700W (cable hell) Case Lian-Li Lancool PC-K62 Cooling Stock fans for PC case, Cooler Master Hyper N520 for CPU Hard Drives 1x90GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD (System, internal)

I have used the versions 5 and 6, with XP ; I have the entire stardock suite . In Windows 7, I dont see any reason to use windowblinds, coz the themes for windows 7 are much more nice than those of windowblinds . Well it is my opinion .
If you want, you may download the trial at Stardock Corporation - Software - WindowBlinds .
