    How to change icon in devices and printers


    How to change icon in devices and printers ?
    Is there an easy fix or step by step guide or even tutorial somewhere ?

    Are you talking about these icons?

    If so they are in the DDORes.dll in both C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 for 64-bit
    You should work on copies of the .dll on your desktop using a resource hacker of some kind. After you have made your changes you will need to take ownership and give yourself permission so you can rename the old .dll and replace it with the new one
    look at post #6 in this thread and it will tell you how

    I managed to do it but I can't get the image as large as the orignal win 7 one, I've tried resizing it but doesn't seem to make any difference any ideas on how to make show larger if you know what I mean.

    Put that icon in a zip folder and upload it here and let me look at it.

    Upload of icon, could you tell me exactly where the correct place to put this icon please see the 2nd & 3rd attachments.
    Just want to make sure I've got the right place.

    You are putting it in the right place Icon Group

    You need to make it 256x256 then it might look better, but you need to make the background transparent by making it a .png then convert to a .ico

    added the original 650D icon to a zip file, this how I got it but when tried to use this it would NOT open devices & printers, I must be doing something wrong

    I used your icon and got it to work for me
    How to change icon in devices and printers-region.png
    I have attached two zip's with the .dlls inside that I put your icon in make sure you follow the procedure in post #6 in this thread Basic Networking Information and restart when done. You may need to rebuild your icon cache Icon Cache - Rebuild
    Let me know if you need more assistance.
