How to SUCCESSFULLY edit logon screen?

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I am attempting to remove the Ease of Access button, Windows 7 branding, and power button from the logon screen. I have followed several different tutorials on how to do these things but following every single one of them word-for-word results in a crash or no change at all. I have tried several different combinations of tutorials as well, and nothing is working.

Does anybody know how to pull this off on a 64bit version of windows?

Hello Ignazio, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see how these will work for you. To be safe, create a restore point before doing the last 2 to be able to do a system restore if needed or if you make a mistake. :)

Shut Down - Enable or Disable Shut Down without Logging On

Log On Screen - Change or Remove Text Branding

Ease of Access Center - Add or Remove from Logon Screen

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I'll give the first two a go, that reg file option looks easy and safe. But I've already attempted the third one, and it resulted in a crash. Is there any way to get a reg file to remove the ease of access?

By the way I DO create restore points which usually work but every once in a while not a single one of them will work, even ones I've used minutes before successfully. When that happens, I have to do a painfully long datasafe restore.

I don't have a way to do that using a REG file so far, but if you do that tutorial step by step, you should be good. :)

Brink, the not-free versions of DisplayFusion* have a feature** that [probably effortlessly] does what the thread-starter wants to do. Is there probably going to be no free program offering that ability?

    Hello Lykho,

    Thank you.

It's not a problem when it's used to help the OP, there's not a known free option to do the same thing, and is not posted as spam. :)

Try this free application but remember editing logon screen is a risky ploy, do it at your own risk.

Alternatively you can search customized authui.dll on deviantart.com.

Got the branding and power button to go away, but I followed the accessibility tut word for word and crashed my comp again. Why can nobody put out a good tut for that?

I've done this many times so it does work. If the pc is crashing my guess is the error is at the replacement of the files. Double check your commands.

    Danny

You could use Hirens Boot Cd's mini xp mode from a usb stick to just swap the files over while windows is offline

Care to elaborate on what you mean by that?
