Change the background or font color of the side panel?

    Hi everyone,

I just installed a glass theme and it made the start menu transparent and the font of the texts on the side panel white. Because the side panel is also white, it's impossible for me to see the texts until i hover over them to make them blue. By side panel i meant the extra options panel on the left side of the control panel. I attached a screen shot below.
I tried the advanced appearance options but it doesnt let me change any of that.

    Any help would be appreciated!

You could use Resource Hacker to extract the images then edit them with an image editor like MSpaint, gimp, paint.net, Photoshop and then replace the images in the theme .msstyles
If you post a link to that theme you are using I will be able to give you the image numbers.

i am having trouble editing shell32.dll with resource hacker. I took ownership of the file, ran reshacker as admin, saved the image, edited it with paint, replaced it in reshacker, but i cant save it. I says cannot overwrite the file. I also tried renaming the original shell32.dll and then copying the one i "saved as" with reshacker but still no go. It doesnt seem to copy it to the folder.

Is there a way to add the image to the theme.msstyle file with reshacker?

heres the link to the theme: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

    Thanks!

Be sure you are working on a copy of shell32.dll on your desktop.
Open the shell32.dll with Resource Hacker opened the bitmap folder scroll down to 632 click on the + and click on 1033 click on Action then click on replace bitmap.

Do the same thing for #633

    Click File and Click Save.

    That should do it
Follow post #6 from this thread it will show you how to take ownership and give yourself permission and how to rename and replace shell32.dll Basic Networking Information

I would recommend putting UAC on never notified while you replace the shell32.dll and then putting it back to your current settings when done User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

If that does not work you could try a 30 day trial of this Restorator - Bome Software - Restorator - the resource editor for customization, localization, and translation. it is very easy to use and I can walk you through them steps also.

OK now the .msstyles I cannot get Resource Hacker to work for me either on .msstyles I use Windows Style Builder so Download Anolis Resourcer Anolis - Download: Resourcer 0.9

Open the .msstyles open the image folder scroll down to #661 click on + and click on 0 click on Replace.
